Gods favor comes as a result of our repentance found in humble sack cloth and ashes but you seldom see it come easily. The battle we’re in needs Gods favor but often it doesn’t happen us we expect. The Jews knew if Haman had his way they would all be annihilated but at Esther’s request prayed and repented asking for help. As you find favor with your King (Esther 7:3) you can make your request known. The first step of finding Gods freedom through deliverance is having the accusations of your enemy removed (vs. 6). Remember the scripture in Gen. 50:20, “That which was meant for evil against me God makes for good that many lives could be saved”. God uses things that we think will destroy us to set us free. It’s His justice. God knows how to turn the table on trouble (vs. 10) justice is served (Esther 9:1).
With Haman hung the battle didn’t stop, in fact the war has just begun. The consequences of Satan’s (Haman’s) lies that have operated in our lives’ don’t automatically disappear (Esther 8:5-8). It take’s personal responsibility from each of us to fight for what’s rightfully ours. This is spiritual warfare found in Eph. 6:12. Our King of Kings has given us His signet ring with all authority over evil but we have to stand fast and use it. We have to decree victory over our lives’ by going to battle over the consequences. In Esther 9:13, we see Esther going after generational sin by hanging all 10 of Haman’s sons on the same gallows that were built to hang Mordecai on.
With that hanging Esther left her testimony (the Hebrew number 10 represents law and testimony). Esther 9:28, Join with me as we read this scripture, “These days should be remembered and celebrated throughout every generation, every family, province and city, so that these days of Purim found on the 14th-15th days of Adar will not lose their significance”.
Question: Are you losing battles over sin and it’s consequences in your life?
Key Thought: The pattern for deliverance from our sins and its consequences is clearly outlined in the Book of Esther. First, we need to see repentance on our part for our sin and it’s consequences. This gains God’s favor as He hears our requests. Second, His favor removes Satan’s lies from ruling in our lives. Third, we’re given victory over those lies and consequences as we battle with God’s authority in spiritual warfare.
